IKEA changes typeface to …. Verdana?!

IKEA have turned their back on 50 years of Futura and are using the hyper-ugly Verdana typeface in their 2010 catalogue – apparently because it includes additional characters such as those required for Asian-language character sets. Surely they could have found something better for their catalogue? Even if they used Verdana for the body copy of the website? Which of course is crazy in itself when you have Helvetica and Arial (for the less fortunate non-Mac users)…

Greatest ever letter of complaint?

The Times report on the unfortunate case of one man’s trip from Mumbai to London on Virgin Atlantic and his subsequent letter of complaint to Sir Richard Branson. Truly very funny and apparently worthy of a response from Sir Richard himself.

Last night on Earth?

It would seem that for 2 hours last night, every Microsoft 30GB Zune in the world stopped working due to a bug in the handling of leap years. No doubt that caused Steve Jobs to chortle in to his Cheerios this morning. And presumably inconvenienced literally tens of Zune owners.
